Cut Copy // In Ghost Colours
I've been finding myself increasingly listening to a new breed of music. It's been around, but it's failed to grasp my attention until recently. It's an infusion of pop music with electronica. There's various sounds that fall under those premises, which means a variety of bands, but there's one that I've really enjoyed as of late.
Melbourne, Australia natives, Cut Copy have a synth driven pop sound to them that is rather enjoyable. It makes me want to dance, it really does. Take for example 'Lights and Music' off their latest album In Ghosts Colour. Melodious instrumentations with catchy lyrics - that's what a good song is all about:
Lights and music
Are on my mind
Be my baby
One more time...
There's nothing out of the world about them, yes, but they're the sort of lyrics you want coming on when you're out dancing. Something you can just enjoy and dance to. Another track that I've really been enjoying is 'Hearts on Fire', which has a similar feel to it, albeit somewhat slower. What's really cool about the entire album is that it plays off as a single entity - each song is connected to the next, and makes for a great listening experience.
So if you like what you hear, don't shy away from picking up the whole album - I highly recommend it. It might not be 'tap your feet' all the way through, but it's well done nonetheless!
