Movie: Rocket Science

I saw Rocket Science last week and I was incredibly impressed by it. The plotline was great, characters and character development were phenomenal, and the music was the cherry on top! So what's this movie about?

It's about Hal Hefner, a high school student who has an uncontrollable stutter and thus fears interactions with most people. Then comes along Ginny Ryerson to recruit Hal to the debate team, which makes for some very interesting issues within Hal's life. To say anymore could lead to possibly ruining the movie, and so I'll leave you with that brief synopsis.

As for the music, it is a great accompaniment to the movie, and it introduced me to one of my growing favorite artists, Eef Barzelay. Ryan Adams-esque vocals over an acoustic guitar (for the most part) highlight all the right moments throughout the film, and led me to grabbing the soundtrack. It's interspersed with quotes from the movie itself which makes it a great way to relive the movie while it takes its sweet time getting to DVD.

So check out this track from the iTunes version of the soundtrack, and if you like it, grab the album and maybe one or both of Barzelay's albums as well.
