Warped Tour Pre-Party
The Glass House at Pomona hosted the kick-off party for the Warped Tour this year. The much-anticipated UK buzz band, Gallows, was set to headline the show that night with a couple other acts on the bill, including a "special guest". I made it in time for Big D & The Kids Table, who did a fantastic job reminding me why I ever enjoyed ska. I gotta say that as much as I love me some pop music, the energy that punk and ska artists deliver get me jumping and bouncing and loving that style of music all over again.
In any case, Big D & The Kids Table did a fantastic job, although I have to say I'm slightly biased in favor of any band that has a horn section. These guys from Boston gave the crowd exactly what they oughta be expecting from this year's Warped Tour, and more. They took their exit and Gallows made their way on stage. Scream-punk defined, these guys had even more energy than Big D, and the audience found the singer in the middle of a mosh-pit singing his throat into near destruction. The UK buzz band definitely upheld its reputation for delivering a fantastic show, and will be adding a great amount of flavor to the main stage at the Warped Tour.

After Gallows had exited, I asked one of the cameramen in the pit if he knew who the "special guest" for the night was, to which his response was "yeah, it's Bad Religion". Now, I won't say that I'm the biggest Bad Religion fan ever, but 'Sorrow' is by far one of my favorite songs. So when I heard that they were going on next, I near crapped my pants. This was more than just another band. Bad Religion, in my opinion, are legends when it comes to SoCal punk music. There's no bigger name that comes to my mind in that context, and to see them live was more than just a treat!

Playing stuff from their new album as well as older stuff, including the "song [that] is full of sorrow", which just made my night. It was definitely great to see them altogether, and enjoying playing to the audience as much as the audience was enjoying seeing them. All in all, it was a fun night, and for those of you going out to the Warped Tour this summer, go check out these 3 bands... you will regret missing any of them!
