Holy Shit! Was I Just There?

Tuesday night I headed over to Hotel Cafe to check out Sanders Bohlke, who played with a full band. Having seen him play twice, once alone, and once with his bassist Adrian, it was an awesome treat to see him with an entire band consisting of himself, Adrian, a drummer, an electric guitarist and a pianist. That just made my night.

But I'd overlooked who was playing next until it was mentioned that Tom Morello was "the guy from Rage". That in itself was huge, but little did I know what Morello had in store for the 250 person audience that night. Having played a couple songs from his solo project The Nightwatchman, Morello dedicated the next song to some old friends in the audience. The song? Guerrilla Radio. The friend? Zach De La Rocha. After he finished up his short set, these were the people that graced the small stage at Hotel Cafe:

Jon Foreman of Switchfoot
Wayne Kramer of MC5
Ben Harper
Extreme
Alice in Chains
David Draiman of Disturbed
B Real of Cypress Hill

The highlight of the night had to be a bunch of the artists jammed up on that tiny stage and bringing the house down to 'Rock Superstar' and then 'Insane in the Membrane'. All I can say is "Holy shit! Was I just there?" I even woke up the next morning in disbelief. Now, Morello is going to be hosting this fundraiser for Axis of Justice the next 3 Tuesdays. If you wanna catch some crazy acts and special guests, the Hotel Cafe is the place to be. I'd recommend showing up as early as possible because it will be packed. If you make it out, see ya there!
