The Free Design Love Their Kites

I randomly downloaded an album last night without knowing who the artist was or even listening to all the samples. I was hooked by the first song 'Kites Are Fun', and so downloaded the album with the same name. As I listened to it, I was amazed at how the band was able to create a beautiful 60's sound, until I checked out their website and realized that they recorded the music in the 60's and 70's!

[The cover should've given it away]. But the album is still lovely. For any fan of twee, you must, must, must get it when you get a chance. I already mentioned that the title song is great. Some of the others that you guys might enjoy are 'When Love Is Young', 'Umbrellas', and 'A Man And A Woman'. There are elements of the Beatles and the Beach Boys (especially when it comes to the harmonies) which make the album very enjoyable to a fan of either. A more contemporary band that you might be reminded of would be I'm From Barcelona. So check out the mp3's, and if you enjoy it, you can grab the album off of eMusic.

Tommorow's World does an even better version of 'Kites Are Fun' on the compilation album Songs For The Jet Set.
